Status : Software Engineer at a product based company, 2.5 YOE , B.E in C.S.E from Tier-4 College
Applied Position : SDE-1 at Amazon
Location : Hyderabad
Date : June 2022
I got an email from Amazon Hiring team through a Campus Hiring Campaign. Applied through the same on the careers website.
Total 4 rounds of interviews.
Online Assessment (April 16th) :
Coding Questions.
Was asked time and space complexities for both the questions.
Was asked to explain the approach for both the questions.
Technical Onsite Round - 1 (1 hour) ( May 4th )
Coding and LP Questions.
Was able to give optimal approach and write optimal code for both the questions. Although, I had some discussion with the interviewer regarding the first question about changing the recurisve to iterative and my short cut solution only raised more questions for which we did not have time and executed in leetcode playground and he was satisfied.
Had a feeling that I underperformed with the first question but I was able to do my best with the second question.
Technical Onsite Round - 2 (1.5 hour) ( May 4th )
Coding and LP Questions.
[LC MEDIUM] Max Area of Island with Slight Variation
Max Profit After Selling Tickets
Formulate Time Complexity for a given requirement (Simple and Straight)
Was able to give optimal approach and write optimal code for the 2 questions. But took some help and the interviewer helped me out for the Time Complexity at first because I thought it was easier what it looked like.
Had a very satisfied feeling at the end of the round that I did my best and was satisfied with the answers myself.
Bar Raiser Round ( June 17th ):
Conducted by a Software Development Manager at Amazon.
Asked LP questions for 30 minutes.
Proceeded to ask a few questions and follow up questions on challenges I faced during my work, the solutions I designed, some system design questions regarding my solutions and what prompted to for a particular design over others.
The manager asked me as to why I did not opt for SDE-2 roles.
2 Live Coding questions:
I answered the LP, previous experience and coding questions elaborately and had a feeling that the manager was satisfied with my answers.
And after that we had a good conversation about Life at Amazon for about 10-15 mins.
Verdict : Pending. Last I contacted, they mentioned that the it takes at least 3 weeks to get an update.
I know I was lucky enough to get some of the basic questions in these interviews compared to others. I am kind of riled up with anxiety over the same because I can't understand if I cleared it and if I did well in these interviews because the difficulty seems a bit relatively easy and the longer interval to update.
I appreciate any insights on my scenario and wish this post was helpful for those aspiring for the same.
Thanks all.
Do your best.
Godspeed.
(PS: Will update this post once I get any communication regarding the interview)
