Current position: Software Engineer in a leading chip designing company
Location: Hyderabad
Experience: 4+ years
Interview Dates: 2nd May 2022 - 9th Jun 2022
Rounds
- Online Assessment (1.5hrs): Two coding questions were asked. One easy, the other one hard. Did both on time and submitted. Q1> https://leetcode.com/discuss/interview-question/2153375/Amazon-or-OA-or-Find-max-pages-read, Q2> https://leetcode.com/discuss/interview-question/2153410/Amazon-or-OA-or-Max-deviation-among-all-substrings
- Coding Round 1 (1hr): Two coding questions were asked of Leetcode medium level. Answered one correctly and was very close to answer the second, but ran out of time. Q1> https://leetcode.com/discuss/interview-question/2153440/Amazon-or-Virtual-Onsite-or-Score-of-balanced-parenthesis-string, Q2> https://leetcode.com/discuss/interview-question/2153458/Amazon-or-Virtual-Onsite-or-Rearrange-letters-in-an-array
- Coding Round 2 (1hr): One hard coding question was asked along with a few technical questions, not directly related to coding. The question asked was very much similar to https://leetcode.com/problems/dungeon-game/.
- Hiring Manager Round (Design Round) (1hr): Started off with behavioral questions and questions about my current project. The design question asked was to design a ride sharing app but from the driver's perspective, not the customer. Was asked to implement a high level design first, followed by a few components in depth. Was not prepared for this kind of a design, but still did my best.
- Bar raiser (1hr): This round was mainly behavioral questions and the interviewers questions were detailed and he was asking follow up questions a lot. The design question asked was pretty basic, and it felt more like API design actually. The interviewer was very friendly and ensured that I felt comfortable throughout the interview, which helped me to overcome the tension of this infamous round.
Result: Received offer. Details here: https://leetcode.com/discuss/compensation/2188018/Amazon-or-SDE2-(L5)-or-India-(Hyderabad)
Thoughts: The recruiter gave ample time to prepare for each round and was very helpful in guiding through the process. Knowing Amazon's Leadership Principles in detail are a must for anyone attempting an interview with Amazon.
