I had my virtual onsite interview last week. it was three rounds in total. Two went well and one could be better in presenting solution. The interviewer of that round was not engaging. Although I knew the answer, it was me talking with myself the whole time trying to do 'think aloud'.

anyway, After 3 days I reached out to the recruiter to see if he has any update and he said,

"The feedback has been positive, but in speaking with the hiring manager we would like to interview an additional candidate before coming to a final decision."

Should I consider that they are searching for someone better? Or, they just want more people to compare the interview? Also, does it mean, they already had an HC meeting and kept me as pending?
