Rakuten Bengaluru Interview

Recruiter reached out over linkedin. And there was no online assessment. Rounds were scheduled one after the other.

Round 1 (DSA)

Was asked on previous projects, and experience in kubernetes. And questions around kubernetes architecture.
1 leetcode medium question, similar to https://leetcode.com/discuss/interview-question/613816/Google-or-Onsite-or-Meeting-Rooms-3. Solved it pretty well and explained time and space complexity.
(Verdict: Strong hire)

Round 2 (DSA)

6 LC medium were asked in this round.
Interviewer was a fresh college grad, who definitely wanted to practise all his new skills on me.
Didnt necessarily implement, but discussed approaches and time complexity.
Only last 2 implemented.
Covered all concepts from array, heaps, binary search, trees, graph and dynamic programming
(Verdict: Strong hire)

Round 3 (System design)

Was asked to implement a notification system with certain requirement tweaks.
It was a good 1 hour discussion, and implemented it similar to
(Verdict: Strong hire)

Round 4 (DSA + past experience on kubernetes)

Few questions on kubernetes, and past projects.
Kubernetes architectural understanding.
Networking in kubernetes, (pod-pod, pod-container, container-container etc)
Also asked 2 linux questions to implement awk commands for certain problems.
And 1 LC easy question
He told me in round itself he liked me, and gonna give Strong hire.

Round 5 (Hiring manager + Bar raiser)

Few questions on kubernetes, and past projects.
Kubernetes architectural understanding.
Distributed systems, and system design for etcd kind of distributed key value store.
Typical LP questions.
(Verdict: Strong hire)

After the 5 rounds HR reached back, but unfortunately my ask was far more than what they could offer, also that I was holding competing offers, so they couldnt negotiate. and they decided to let me go. I was disappointed that they shouldnt have started rounds, if i was beyond their budget.
