N26 | Senior Backend Engineer | Barcelona, Spain

I applied in their career website on March first week and heard from the recruiter on the second week asking to schedule the initial call.

Initial call (45mins):
Mutual introductions, my educational background, current roles and responsibilities, current project, questions on previous companies and projects, tech stacks, motivation for Barcelona and N26. Recruiter gave an overview of role, N26, interview process, team for which I was being interviewed, visa process if selected.

Feedback: Received OA link.

OA (130mins):
I could not take the test for one week and recruiter had followed up twice already. I finally decided to take the test despite the busy schedule. There were three questions - one medium and two hard questions. None of them on leetcode. I was in no mood to solve, could not even understand one hard question. I tried attempting the medium one for first 20mins but was not getting the desired results. I ended the test by 30mins.

Feedback: An email where the recruiter said they expect 70% to move forward, I got 11% :)

Flixbus | Senior Kotlin Developer | Munich, Germany

Recruiter approached me in LinkedIn regarding the opportunity in the first week of April. After few exchange of messages on LinkedIn, recruiter asked for a convenient time for a phone call of 30mins. I gave a time slot and she agreed. I could not receive the call when she called at the mentioned time because of personal reasons. She pinged me in LinkedIn again and asked for a different time and we agreed on the next slot.

Phone call (30mins):
Casual talks regarding my background, current role, goals, salary expectations, why Flixbus/Munich. Later, recruiter gave an overview about the process and role. It was for Kotlin. Though it is not really a problem, I asked her if Java roles are available since I had seen lot Java openings in Flixbus. The response was no. Recruiter also gave an overview of Flixbus later.
It was weird taking an international interview over the phone call since there are lots of tools now a days to meet. Most of the times, it would be unclear on phone because of the disturbances. I would any day choose gmeet, zoom or teams for any call regarding job opportunities. Worth mentioning, there was no email communication until the final rejection mail. Everything was over LinkedIn.

Feedback: Standard rejection mail in about 5 days. I assume asking for Java role or my salary expectations could be the reason.

PFC | Backend Engineer | Stockholm, Sweden

Company website: https://www.getpfc.com/
Recruiter approached me on April first week in LinkedIn. Scheduled a time for phone call, but I could not pick the call. Later the recruiter sent his calendar link to schedule the time. Scheduled a call on April 3rd week.

Initial zoom call (30mins):
Similar to all the initial calls - intro, background, current role and project, expectations in the new role and org, salary expectations. Recruiter gave an overview of the role - it was a backend role on Golang stack. When the recruiter gave an overview on the org, I realised that it was a pretty small organisation yet. Based on both the role and org, I got a feeling that I could be a misfit, but anyways wanted to give a try and dint mention about misfit to the recruiter.

Feedback: Standard rejection mail after 10days. I think recruiter also felt that I was a misfit or my salary expectations could be the reason.

I hope this helps all those who are looking for opportunities in Europe. Let me know if you have any questions, I shall try to help my best.
