Process took about a month since applying.
YOE: 0 years as a developer, but 3 years as technical support. Got my BS in CS a few years back.

Round 1: OA

  • 2 coding questions (can't remember what they were)
  • Short workstyle assessment

I remember passing all test cases on the OA.

About a week later, recruiter reached out asking to schedule virtual onsite.

I scheduled the onsite for a week and a half later.

Virtual Onsite:

  • Round 1: LP and LLD OOD question

    • LP took about 30 mins
    • OOD took 25 mins
      • OOD was along the lines of you have certain Amazon devices, create and design the features/functions for these devices
    • On a scale of 1/10 on how well I think I did, I'd give it a 7
  • Round 2: LP and LC Hard question (https://leetcode.com/problems/serialize-and-deserialize-binary-tree/)

    • LP took about 30 mins
    • Coding part I was able to write serialize fairly quickly but had trouble with deserialize
    • On a scale of 1/10 on how well I think I did, I'd give it a 6
  • Round 3: LP and LC Medium question

    • LP took about 30 mins
    • Coding question was very similar to number islands question, but with all 8 directions instead of 4.
      • Solved the coding part fairly quick, gave a bfs solution.
    • On a scale of 1/10 on how well I think I did, I'd give it a 9
  • Round 4: LP and HLD OOD question

    • LP took about 30 mins
    • Build a Cinema OOD, almost System Design.
      • Only was able to come up with a few functions, interviewer was very helpful and suggested other functions
    • On a scale of 1/10 on how well I think I did, I'd give it a 7

Even though the process was very tedious and 4 hours of straight interviewing is annoying, the interviewers were very helpful. I don't think I had any issues with the LP questions, althought I may have answered some in a non STAR format and my lack of experience, I had to reuse some stories for different interviewers.

Took a few days to hear back, recruiter reached out and said that the interviewers thought I needed more time/experience and suggested I re-apply once the year cooldown is off.
