Years of Experience: 2.5
Recruiter contacted me over LinkedIn about the job opportunity. He explained me the entire process. It will be having 5 rounds out of which 4 will be technical and 1 non technical. I scheduled the round 1 after 1 week.
Round 1 (DS/ALGO):
Interviewer was good. He introduced himself and his role in the team. Followed by my introduction and some general discussions. It took around 5-6 mins and then interviewer headed straight to the problem. He shared a online coding platform(didnt remember the platform)
Given a list of strings, group all the anagrams together
input : [aet,bat,nat,nat,tan,eta,ate,eta]
output : [[aet, ate, eta],[bat],[nat,tan]]
It was a LC medium question. He gave some test cases to run. Then he asked about the time and space complexity. The round went well. After 3 days got a call from the recruiter that I have cleared the round and next round is scheduled.
Round 2 (DS/ALGO):
The interview started with the brief interoduction from both of us. The interviewer seems to interested in my current work. we had some lengthy discusion about the current work. Some questions about kubernetes, containerization, encryption/decryption of different volumes which are all related to my current work. Then the interviewer asked a LC medium question.
Print the longest substring without duplicate characters.
I came up with the optimzed solution and discussed about the complexities. The interviewer seems satisified.
Round 3 (LLD):
Design battleship game.
I came up with the design. Discussed how I implemented the SOLID principles in my design, what design pattern I have used. Then the interviewer gave a follow up question which is basically an extension of the problem statement. We had a very good discussion in this round and the interviewer seems satisftied.
Round 4 (Test design and debugging):
This round was completely new to me. A product overview was given need to come up with different test design and cases. I came up with the different scenarios as per my best of knowledge. Discussed different testing patterns and interview went more than 1 hour.
Round 5: (Hiring Manager)
General discussion on my current role in the company. What are my expectations in the new role. The Manager was friendly and he also joined around 6 months back. So overall the interview went well.
After 10 days the recruiter shared the result as the manager was eager to take my in his team. This is followed up with the compensation discussion which I will provide in another post.
Overall the interview process took around 1 month.
