Amazon refused me after phone interview without any feedback
I am contaminated with an idea to get hired at FAANG as a Data Engineer. Yesterday I had my phone interview with Amazon, and I think I was doing great - the interviewer gave me two simple SQL tasks. I have resolved them pretty much swiftly with no problems.
Then he gave me one easy problem, the easiest possible. Initially I have told interviewer that I am preparing now for interviews in Scala. And I have written my solution in Scala. I guess an interviewer was not proficient with Scala language, and I couldn’t compile my solution or execute it within Amazon environment, so I suggested that I will write pythonic solution, and I did it, and it sounded like the interviewer was satisfied with it. I have explained complexity of the solution and the choice of data structure.
Today I have noticed my application is no longer under consideration. I got no letter from Amazon. I have explicitly asked an interviewer to provide me a feedback, however he has refused to do so. I have no idea what was the problem and what should I focus to perform better next time.
Have you folks been in this situation? I can provide more context, just ask. Do you have any ideas about the reasons of refusal? Is it possible that Amazon interviews are not language-agnostic and the interviewer was confused with Scala code solution instead of expected Python one?
