Position: University Grad 2022 role at Amazon UK

Date: Feb 24, 2022
OA -> given in October 2021
1 LC easy + 1 LC medium -> behavioral questions -> SDE simulation
3 Onsite interviews-> 1 hour interviews(on the same day with small breaks)
Each interview followed the same pattern:
30 mins -> behavioral/LP based questions
25 mins -> code
5 mins -> question to interviewer
Interview 1
Interviewers were SDE1s with 2-4 yrs of exp.
30 mins -> behavioral/LP questions(about deadline, gone out of my way to do something and lot of follow ups) The key here is to practise beforehand, and have incidents to talk about and using STAR technique
25 mins ->
Given large chunk of log message, segregate them based on a pattern. Then lots of follow up questions. Did them all and was able to nail this interview, and interviewers were very satisfied with both LP and coding questions.
Interview 2
Interviewer was a senior developer.
30 mins -> behavioral/LP questions(similar ones, dont remember them exactly, but were standard questions)
25 mins -> 1 LLD question. Question was similar to design a leaderboard with top K players ID function.
I was new to LLD so took some hints and at the end I was able to come up with a heap solution and made small optimisations. He asked a few follow up question like if K can be max 100, etc answered them, but one of them I wasn't able to understand, it was a bit embarrassing, but since time was less he told he is fine with what I did so far, he proceeded and asked if I have any question for him.
Interview 3
Interview was with Software Development Manager
30 mins -> behavioral/LP questions(dont remember them exactly, but were standard questions)
25 mins ->
Given large chunk of paragraphs my task was to perform simple string manipulation, and had to take care of lots of edge cases and special situations. Overall it was easy-med question.
Interviewer was very impressed with the way I tackled the problem and the number of follow up questions I was able to answer with code. My LP for this round went pretty good as well.
Got acceptance mail in a week's time. Was offered Cambridge, Bristol and Edinburgh, opted for Cambridge location.
