Interview Date: Feb 2022
Position: Senior Software Engineer
Location: NYC
YOE: 5 yrs (2 yrs US + 3 yrs India)
Degree: MS in CS
Result: Offer [250K-280K] ( Did not accept) still interviewing with other companies.

Telephonic Round: I was asked a couple of leetcode easy questions based on graphs and trees. Cannot recall as the first round was long ago.

Onsite:
Technical Round 1:

  • Two Interviewers.
  • Question 1: Given a list of words, return the word count for a given word. Catch: You cannot use HashMaps. The interviewer was looking for how you can implement your own hashmap using a hashing function..
  • Question 2: Don't recall but it was LC easy level question related to strings, I gave answer in 5 mins and spent rest of the time asking questions about the team.

Technical Round 2:

  • Two Interviewers.
  • Question 1: System Design. Implement a trading system which gets inputs from multiple sources and you display it to the users. I kinda bombed this question as I hadn't studied much system design at the time. But interviewer was looking for actual system design solution and not object design.
  • Question 2: Object Design. You have an API say getVal() which reads value from stream of data and sets the points to the next val. You want to implement a wrapper on top of this, so that user can read the current value multiple times. This was easy, you cache this value in your own class until you get a nextVal request.

Behavioral Round 1:

  • Two managers.
  • Talked about passion projects and my role in the team.
  • How to handle conflict etc.

Behavioral Round 2:

  • Director round.
  • This was more of a regular chat followed by couple of questions to me on how I did innovation, my expectations working at Bloomberg etc.
