C3 AI| Full Stack Software Engineer | Bay Area | March 2022 [Reject] Horrible experience

I interviewed at C3.AI during March 2022

Please let me know otherwise but this process was extremely time consuming and seemed completley backwards to me:

  1. Recruiter reached out to me on Linkedin after seeing my experience and profile and we connected and I sent her my resumé.
  2. Spoke with the recruiter for about 30 minutes via zoom about my goals, experience and aspirations for my next role.
  3. Recruiter reached out via email saying they wanted to schedule a 3 round back-to-back technical on-site with the team I'd be joining.
  4. Had my interview and answered all the questions they asked and communicated my thought process clearly. (medium LC, some OOP, and interface design questions)
  5. Got an email from the recruiter the next day saying I did well on my interviews and the final rounds would be to meet with the Senior Manager of Engineering and the VP of App Engineering for a behavioral round.
  6. Had my meeting with those 2 senior folks and I thought it went well. The senior manager was engaing and asked about salary expectations, explained me more about the product, etc.. Same with the VP, even though he mostly said "i'm just here to answer any questions, my opinion won't affect the decision" etc etc....
  7. Got an email about 4 days later saying that they liked my background and techincal skils however they are rejecting me because what i've done to this point doesn't align with what they are looking for at the moment LOL.

They've had my resumé from the get go and the recuirter initially reached out solely due to my experience thus far so it seems so backwards to reject me after clearing a technical on-site on the basis of my experience not matching up... To me, that's not something you evaluate after 2 final rounds of interviews.

Maybe they had other reasons and decided to say that but that just shows the further lack of transperancy if that's the case. The only annoying part of this whole thing is the amount of time this process wasted.

I'd strongly suggest moving forward with other opporunities if you have the chance.
