The Amazon Software Development Engineer Interview Process has multiple rounds. It has three rounds of online assessments followed by one round of onsite/video interview. We will go through questions of each one of them:
- Online Assessment Round -1 : Debugging Round
- I was asked to debug and solve seven questions in twenty minutes. The programming language had a choice of Java, C, C++. I solved in Java.
- It was simple and each problem took around 2-3 minutes to understand and solve. It is very fast paced.
- Online Assessment Round - 2: Coding Round
- I was asked to solve two questions on DSA in 70 minutes. One was easy level while the other was medium level.
- This round had other programming languages also as options apart from Java, C, C++ such as Python, Go etc.

- After this, around 50 behavioural questions were asked based on Amazon Leadership Principles.
- Online Assessment Round - 3: Workstyle Assessment
- This was round kind of behavioural round but different from the one we had in Round - 2. We were asked our reactions on particular scenarios we would come across while working in Amazon. We need to know Amazon Leadership Principles.
The above three rounds took around 10 days to complete. After a long wait of three and half months, I got an email asking my availability for interview round.
Interview Round:
I was asked Leetcode question and followed it up with improvements to the leetcode question. Then I was asked few behavioural questions for around 10-15 minutes.
Questions Asked: Reverse Words in a String - LeetCode
Behavioural Questions:
- Tell me time when you suggested some change in the team or project that you worked on.
- Tell me time when you took a decision without much research or input.
And few follow up questions on both of the above ones.
