I am currently a Final Year CSE undergrad in Pune.

Eligibility criteria: Above 7.5 CGPA and above, No active backlog
Branch: CS & IT branches.
Status: New grad(2022) - On Campus
Position: Software Engineer at TraceLink
Location: Pune, Maharashtra
Date: November, 2021

Round 0: Online Assessment (Hackerrank), Test duration - 60 mins
There were 3 questions that were part of this test:

  • 2 Coding questions (1 Medium + 1 Hard)
  • 1 SQL query (Easy/Medium)

I was able to solve 1 coding question & the SQL query
27 students were shortlisted for the next round.

Round 1: Techincal Interview (Easy)
Interviewer - Senior Software Engineer.
This round lasted for approx. 40 min.
The interviewer was very friendly. She asked me to give an introduction about myself. After that, she moved on to my resume and started asking questions related to it.

  1. In depth discussion about a project I had mentioned in the resume.

  2. As it was a team project, what features have you worked on?

  3. As my projects were based on Nodejs & Reactjs, some questions about the basics of
    Nodejs, JS & React

  4. Then, gave me 2 problems to be solved (any programming language) -

  • You are given a number N, you have to print all perfect squares less than N, starting from 1, ...
    eg. if N = 10 , O/P - 1, 4, 9
    eg. if N = 20 , O/P - 1, 4, 9, 16

  • Given two arrays: arr1[] of size m and arr2[] of size n.
Task is to check whether arr2[] is a subset of arr1[] or not.
Both the arrays can be both unsorted or sorted. It may be assumed that elements in both array are distinct.

I was able to solve both the problems, along with their time & space complexities. Overall, it was easy and went well.

Round 2: Hiring Manager Round
After 5 minutes of conclusion of previous round, I received an email for the next round.
Interviewers - Both were Engineering Managers of different teams.
This round lasted for approx. 30 min.
They moved on to my resume and started asking questions related to it.

  1. Short discussion about a project I had mentioned in the resume.
  2. As it was a MERN stack project, I was asked why React was used?
  3. Why Mongodb was used?
  4. Some questions about the basics of React, JS.
  5. A codepair where a React code snippet was pasted & I was asked to predict the O/P & working of it.
  6. Some questions related to Exception handling (C++/Java).

I did not clear this round, but it was really a good experience.

Students who had cleared Round 2, had a final HR round.

Interviews are a lot about luck as well. But the only thing in our hand is practice & perseverance.
Give it your best shot and leave the rest.

All the best :)
