YoE: 10+
Round 1: Coding/Algo
30 minutes on LP
30 minutes on an array and hashmap oriented question.
The question wasn't that hard, but having only 30 minutes to implement it is tough. There were some things in the code that I could have further optimized.
Round 2: Bar Raiser
Surprisingly relaxed conversation. The interviewer was super nice and even split the interview in half. We spent 30+ minutes discussing my questions and then 30 minutes on LPs and deep diving on some past projects. The interviewer even stayed on longer to talk more with me.
Round 3: Coding/Algo
LP questions for 30 minutes and 30 minutes for (easy) BST question. Seems like I didn't get it 100% right, but was very close.
Round 4: LLD/Coding
30 minutes on LP
30 miutes on implementing a command in linux using a language of my choice. Main focus is to make the code as extensible as possible.
Interviewer also stayed on longer to ask more questions to me and for me to ask questions to him.
Overall, I got a very positive impression of Amazon. Based on all of the things I read on the internet about them, I was expecting to be dealing with the devil himself, but everyone seemed nice and authentic. The LPs were sometimes hard to answer. I didn't always have a great example for each question. I was a little disappointed to not have a HLD session, as I would assume that would have been a good way to determine signal between SDE2 and SDE3.
