Currently working in a top MNC.
I recently interviewed with Github.
Round 1: Design crossword. The interviewer was not clear enough in the begining. I asked questions if he meant the classic crossword which we get in newspaper where we need to fill the words. It felt like he was not paying attention in between. Later on he was like it is a grid of letters where we need to tell if the input string given by user is present in grid or not.
I told the approach. He was convinced and asked me to write code. But due to late response from interviewer and time crunch, I messed up in the ending. He kept on saying 5 minutes left, 9 minutes left, etc.
Round 2: Design Online and offline collabrated code platform. More focus was on compilation and language support part. Felt like interviewer was looking for container as an answer. But since I havent used container, I could not think of that on my own and gave microservices as an answer. He asked me if I have used containers later on.
If someone has not used or worked upon something, does that make someone a bad engineer. There is always a first time for everything and everyone.
