  • Well, they were ready to make an offer. But before making an offer, they needed something from me - copies of all govt identification(adhaar, pan), salary slips, appraisal letter, stock details, competing offers, and a couple other things. (why not come to my home, have a tea and check everything in person?)
  • And when I pushed back on few of these things, then they were like how will we validate. What do you have to validate while making an offer? I have given you my expectations and competing offers, just make an offer or don't bother at all. Either invest into background check or start trusting potential employees!
  • When I asked for some rough range on the salary for that role, they did not disclose a damn thing. If you have the nerve to ask everything from candidate, have some decency to share at least a few details.
  • Don't these recruiters know that candidates are not obligated to share their current salary before accepting the offer. I mean its high time that these startup recruiters in India get this settled in their mind. I have not seen even a single FAANG recruiter forcing me to share this information.

I declined to share all these info and asked them to keep their offer.
Thankfully, I dodged a bullet!
