I had a phone screen a few weeks ago with Amazon. It was a very weird experience.
The interviewer was not much interesetd from the start. He asked LPs for only 10 - 15 mins, I thought he might have some difficult coding questions which would take time. He wasnt satisfied with my LP answers either. After 15 mins he pasted a REALLLY Easy question (not on LC but difficulty wise think 2 Sum) Literally 5 lines of code.
I asked clarifying questions, modularized the code in OOD style, thinking he would ask me another coding question but he didnt. He kept asking about different data structures and their internal workings. In 15 mins my coding round was over with just one easy coding question. I asked if the solution works, he said the solution was absolutely correct.
He asked if I had any questions for him and the interview ended. I thought I cleared it but got a rejection email two days later.
The only reason I could think of is I am not a native English Speaker and I stammered a lot, he might have made up his mind before even coming to the coding round. He couldn't answer some of the architeture questions I asked him in the end. I was focusing too much on LC but from now I need to focus on my stories as well. Feeling so bad about the rejection :-(
