Hi All, here is my interview experience with Amazon along with the questions I was asked:
Status: New Grad from Top 25 Colleges in U.S.
Position: SDE1 at Amazon
Location: NYC
Date: October 2021
Online Assesment
I was reached out to by a recruiter and was sent an online assessment with two problems. Don't exactly remeber these two problems but I'd say they were both LC Medium.
After the Hackerrank, I was sent a Work Simulation which is mostly behavioral and case study questions.
After passing, I was scheduled for the virutal onsite
Virtual Onsite
The onsite consisted of 3 45 minute rounds with 15 minute breaks in between. All rounds began with a brief introduction from both the interviewer and myself and also ended with time to ask a few questions.
I had the interview on a Friday and got the offer Tuesday the following week.
I was able to solve all the problems within the time limits except for the 2nd interview where I was 95% finished and the interviewer seemed satisfied.
I am super glad that I didn't get any Graph or Tree problems like most people. My advice would be to don't stress too much over the LP questions. The STAR method is useful but I wouldn't say it's necessary. Just make sure your stories have a great beginning, middle, and end. Have some enthusiasm when telling them aswell!
I can't really give any advice for the coding portion as Amazon seems like they randomly pick from a hat of what type of question they will ask. I would expect atleast one of them to not be a standard LC question but a System Design question or an Open-Ended technical problem.
Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll answer them as best I can. Goodluck!
