Online Test
Typical Amazon Online Assessment Test, focusing on DS Algo/Problem Solving. I guess there are some situational based questions too based on Amazon Leadership Principles, but what I think is that this online assessment majorly focuses on technical aspects.
Phone Screen Round
Phone Screening round was taken by an engineer, it is around 60 min round that focuses on some Amazon Leadership principles and technical questions were asked, majorly focusing on DS-Algo and their complexity, short Problem Solving analytical questions, CS Fundamentals etc. were sometimes also asked.
Virtual Interview Rounds (All rounds are roughly around 60 min)
This round was focused on Logical and Maintainability. An open ended question was asked in the form of real-world scenario, needing to discuss and come up with a logical and maintainable solution. Maintainable in the sense means code is easier to understand, follows proper OOPs principles, easier to debug and add new features(Scale-up) etc.
This round was focused on DS Algo/Problem Solving. As per time remaining, no. of questions can vary. I was asked two different questions and some follow-ups of the second question as well, each time increasing the complexity and pushing the question to a more practical aspect, basically it started with some relaxations and assumptions and as we moved forward, relaxations and assumptions were withdrawn and were asked to consider and implement in code.
This round was focused on System Design. A general open ended system was asked to design, interviewer said I can use drawing board, any software or rough sheet for drawing the diagram if I need or if I am comfortable with that way, but I prefer to explain my approach first and had a discussion, and in the process, though I was asked some follow-up questions based on my design explanation, I was not asked to draw and show anything explicitly.
Round 4 and 5 focused entirely on Amazon Leadership Principles. These principles are very important in any Amazon interview.
Apart from 2 rounds fully focusing on Amazon Leadership Principles, in each of the other rounds, including the Phone Screen round, situational questions based on Amazon Leadership principles were asked, so one should be somewhat prepared with their stories reflecting Amazon Leadership Principles.
