I interviewed for SDE II role for Amazon in Aug-Sep. There were a total of 5 rounds: 1 OA + 4 interviews. The entire process took around 15-20 days.
Online Assessment: Aug 20, 2021
It consisted of two questions + two approach. Both were related to easy medium Array Question. After that there was one LP assessment.
I cleared both the OA rounds, after that my recruiter handed my profile to other recruiter for Onsite Interviews.
1st Interview: Aug 25, 2021 (Manager)
First Round was Managerial round with questions around past experience and LP principles. He had more time so he asked one question related to Binary Tree to String and then a follow up question. He was happy with my answers.
2nd Interview: Aug 25, 2021 DSA
This was Coding and DSA. Questions with Tree Traversal and Median of Running stream was asked. For Tree I solved with recursion and for the other i came up with brute force. So the interview didn't went well.
3nd Interview: Aug 25, 2021 Design
The System design round went well for me. He asked to design a File Manager kind of service. Interviewer asked to write classes, API as well.
Got a call from Recruiter on the same day, As Expected she told your DSA didn't went well. You might be asked more DSA questions in Bar Riser Round. Surprised that they didn't reject.
4th Interview: Aug 27, 2021 Bar Riser
As Informed by Recruiter ,interviewer asked question which can be easily solved using array, hashmap. The other question was related to parenthesis problem and he asked me to solve in 0(1) time. 3rd question was next greater element but i came up with brute force.
All Are LC Questions.
He also asked some LP questions.
After a day I got call from recruiter that I have cleared the interview and asked to send documents.
Got offer in next 2 days.
For Preparation: This was my third attempt for Amazon and I cleared it. In all my previous Interviews I observed one thing, they are heavily focused on Trees & DP. Learn to solve all Tree Traversal, views, & other Leetcode questions using Iterative Approach. Most of the question are Medium. So dont waste much time on Hard Questions.
Last please dry run your code and find out edge cases/ boundary cases by yourself. If they find out some will consider as red flag.
