Status: New grad, Top 5 School in Canada
Position: SDE1 at Amazon New Grad
Location: Canada
Date: Sept 2021
OA1 - Q1 10/10, Q2 4/10
OA2 - Think I did well
Onsite (3 Rounds x 45 Mins)
-
Round 1:
- LP Question
- OOD question similar to LRU Cache, LC Medium
- Came up with optimal solution with time left to dry run and write test cases, interviewer seemed happy
-
Round 2 (Bar Raiser):
- LP Question, probably could have done better
- https://leetcode.com/problems/integer-to-english-words/
- I did this question once before
- Not as structured an approach to solving this, asked a couple of clarifying questions and mentioned that I could use recursion to build up a solution
- Did not ask me time complexity or to dry run the code (Possibly because I was doing dry runs of the code while writing it to guide myself to the correct solution)
- 3 Follow ups of which I was able to answer two before we ran out of time
- This is probably the round I'm most unsure of
-
Round 3:
- LP Question -> Different question but I ended up using a similar story to the previous interview
- Asked about a previous full stack project
- Custom question OOD around LC Easy/Medium
- Had a lot of questions about it, but was able to clarify and build to a solution
- Was able to correctly answer follow ups and the time complexity for those follow ups
Overall I feel confident that I did well throughout, I was able to solve all 3 questions and arrive at optimal solutions, the 2nd one was kind of iffy as I didn't necessarily have an approach set in stone, but by dry running through the code, I was able to arrive at a correct solution, I felt my LP story may have been weaker here as well but I'm not sure. I am confident that I did very well in the other two rounds.
I hope this helps some of you. I did about 200 LC questions leading up to the interview.
