I gave Technical phone screen for FB last week which I could not clear.
Duration: 45 mins
2 coding questions: 20mins each.

  1. Addition of 2 strings. Strings can be decimal numbers.
  2. Is given singly linked list palindrome? Solve it in constant space.

I got the approch to solve both the questions right.
But I could not complete the coding in time. Clearly 20mins is way to less to solve a problem flawlessly.

I don't understand what they achieve by keeping such stringent timeline. It absolutely dosen't help in judging one's ability. Also it is far away from real job scenerio where we spent ample time to analyse and test the problem.

It is heart-breaking to see your months of efforts going in vain due to you been judged in just 15-20mins of time-frame. Definitely not a fair way of judging specially for senior positions where coding is just a part of your job responsibilities.
