Hi all,

Had a long interview season.

YOE : 8years
College : Tier 3
Current TC : 38LPA + esops
Leetcode questions : 450+

Interviewed with bunch of startups and then moved to bigger companies.
Will post experence of only 3 companies.

  1. Microsoft
had 2 rounds, DSA and LLD
hard string problem from Leetcode. Cameup with a bad solution
LLD: Design tic tac toe. Could not come up with good LLD
    rejected
  2. Amazon
online coding question 1 easy 1 medium solved both
    4 onsite rounds
System design round : Design a payment app
behavorial : standard amazon LP questions
Bar raiser: simple coding problem, missed one edge case
DSA: 2 questions 1 hard 1 medium (soved hard, could not come up with greedy solution for medium one)
rejected: issues in coding and design
  3. Facebook london
Solved more than 150 questions in a month before this interview
    4 rounds
    DSA was directly from leetcode
    standard behavorial questions
Design was a simple problem statement
rejeted : did not speak enough in design

Take Away from the interviews:
Microsoft is most inconsistent in interview pattern. They are like startups. They come up with random questions and rounds. its more of luck than preparation
Amazon focuses heavily on LP. Quesions asked can be found on leetcode. practice
Facebook: easiest of three but accuracy should be high. Code should be perfect. in design round you should be more proactive. Speak all you know in depth(there is no cross question from interviewer).

Got offers from 3 startups inmobi, ola and keep truckin, but cant seem to crack tier-1 companies.
Not sure what should be the strategy going forward. I am thinking to start practicing contests(codejam, codechef.. etc).
Any thoughts?
