I was contacted by a recruiter from Amazon on LinkedIn.

Online Assessment

  1. 4SUM closest / shopping options. Was not able to cover all test cases due to TLE. Should have used hash set/map for the last level.
  2. Storage optimization. Got all test cases

Phone Screening
Got no LP questions, only on coding challenge - LRU cache. Got it done with few minor mistakes. When I examined my code later found that I forgot to add return statement...
Got the feedback the next day and the invitation for on-site in about a week.

On-site
I won't disclose the questions here due to NDA. I'll just say that LP questions could be easily found, they are mostly the same - not meeting deadline, conflicts, how you persuade a higher level collegue, etc. As of coding questions I've got they were all new to me though I did quite a number of LC tasks. Before my intervew I did lots of research here and I wasn't able to find any of the questions.

First round

  1. LP for 30 minutes.
  2. One easy/medium level question. I was able to code it, at least I think so :) The interviewer was very vague on task definition.

Second round

  1. System design question. Seen people mentioning it here before. This one could have gone better, but I did my best at this point. I think I failed to list all the services needed for it. Or should have split them more.
  2. LP questions

Third round

  1. LP
  2. I'd say medium level question, I haven't seen this one before even here on LC. The interviewer was very confusing. To me it felt like he didn't even understand the task completely himself. I discussed my approach with him and coded it just fine. But when I had just five minutes left in the round he decided to ask me to code a standard data structure (which exists in Java and which I used in my solution, and he was fine for me to use it in the first place). I failed to do it completely and he delayed my next round.

Fourth round
Two interviewers

  1. LP
  2. Hard question, can be found on LC. Failed to code it completely.

Outcome
Got rejection email in a week, no feedback provided

This was my first experience interviewing at a FAANG company. It would be a big surprise to pass it at the first time, it takes practice. :)
I pretty much understand where I failed and know which areas I need to improve.
