I was reached out by microsoft recruiter in June 2021 for hiring events, I was little skeptical since I had given codility tests twice before & was rejected even after passing test cases even though i had tested for custom test cases.

So anyways wanted to try final time

Codility screening round : Variation of Binary tree Depth problem not on leetcode, & sign of products which you can find in microsoft section.

Onsite. This is where it gets worst. Questions were damm easy in the first three rounds expect last one, within 5-10 min was able to discuss few approach & code it up in codility

Round 1 : single number problem from leetcode, edit: arrays are not sorted. had given solution based on xor o(N) Time o(1) space. Interviewer kept asking for efficient solution, I coded this approach & told him this is the efficient solution still typical desi guy was cluless & not satisfied

Round 2: Kth largest : Another Desi Guy, suggested priority solution & coded it up, again he asked me how can i improve, told him we can use quick select but this will be o(N^2) in the worst case. Not sure what more he wants, sit down you are not google. I have given 2 solutions coded it up, passes all edge cases in codility still you are not satisfied

Round 3: Variation of some array not on leetcode. suggested that we can use hashmap, He told me not to use hashmap, so used arraylist & coded it up, Then again this interviewer changed the requirement mid way & was mad when i coded the solution using arraylist's contains & solution was around 4-6 lines. not sure why this guy was mad, was it coz of 4-6 lines in Java or some other reason I am not sure. I can tell this guy was cluless abt Java.

Round 4: Some graph problem not on leetcode, Worst interviewer, described the problem in worst possible way, when i asked him for some other sample inputs & outputs kept drawing back & forth & couldnt describe me what he was expecting. At this stage i was really disappointed & couldn't care less, as the manner in which the three interviewers conducted & who was not satisfied even after giving them right solutions with clean code of 4-6 lines.

Got reached out by another team by microsoft, not sure whether i want to proceed with them.

Have onsite with Facebook next month, Initial round with Google.
