IBM Integration Intern interview
1452

Status: it was in 2013. student master-in-progress, for that moment all my experience was gained in studying and pet projects, no commercial experience.

Position: Integration intern for software group department

Location: Kyiv, Ukraine

Pre-interview:
Manager sent me a link to online test. It consisted of aproximately 30-40 questions. For each question I had a timer set to 20 sec. After time was out current question was automatically closed, and I had to go to the next question. Test included some behavioral questions (mostly, to determine leadership skills), but most of them were logical - for example: what will be the next 3 numbers in the sequence 45, 2, 23, 7 ....
I was surprised when after finishing this test I just got a page with text like "Thank you, you can press this button to leave this site", and no results. I thought I failed it, but it appeared that I passed it successfully, and after it I was invited ti on-site interview.

Onsite inteview:
2 rounds:

  1. Technical with future technical manager: questions about my experience, basic algorithms, data structures, notions from computer science, standard java interview questions. At the end of this round I had an unusual task - I was left alone in a room with computer and some highlevel presentations of one of IBM products. In 20min I had to present that product in front of other technical specialists and to answer their questions about that product's architecture.
  2. Behavioral with managers: deeper questions about my experience and skills based on my CV (for example why do I studied in Cisco Networking Academy but haven't taken CCNA test yet), some behavioral questions about situations from the past, my studying at university etc.

Overall opinion:

  1. really interesting tasks
  2. really a lot of communication with partners and customers
  3. cozy office, although it's an open space
  4. good work-life balance
  5. great experienced specialists to work with
