Background: B.E. in IT
Work Experience: 5.5 years in a product based MNC
Position: IC3 OCI
Team : Filesystems
Location: Bangalore, India
Interview Period: Dec 2020
Total rounds: 1 Prelim + 3 Tech Rounds + 1 Bar Tender + 1 Managerial

I enjoyed interviewing at OCI. The interview process was seamless, and the recruiters and interviewers were awesome. This has been the best interviewing experience in my career.

Interview Process:

Round 0: Prelim round (1 hour)

  • This round was taken by a senior developer on coderpad. The interviewer was very friendly. This round was a check that I knew how to write code.
  • Started with array linear search, then to binary search, and then to finding lower bound in a sorted array.
    This round went very well.

After this round, the HR scheduled 5 more rounds to be completed in three days.

Round 1: Problem Solving (1 hour)

Round 2: Bartender (1 hour)

  • This was with someone (I believe she was a project manager for some team in the US) outside the team I would be joining. This was not a coding/design round. This was a behavioral round. We discussed Oracle's LPs, my project, my leadership skills, cracked jokes. This went well.

Round 3: Design Round HLD (1 hour)

  • This was taken by a very senior developer in the US. He was very cool and we began with the discussion of my current project.

  • The design question was similar to designing a dropbox where I have to transmit large amounts of data reliably and efficiently over a network.

  • The interviewer was very friendly and gave me a lot of hints.

I felt I could have done better in this round.

Round 4: Managerial (1 hour)

  • Project and LP discussions - 1 hour.
  • He tested my leadership skills in many scenarios. We went in-depth about my current project and he asked me a lot of challenging questions about how I could improve my project.
    This round went well.

Round 5: Problem solving (1 hour)

I received the offer after few days. Out of 6 rounds, the only one did not go well. This is what I liked most about OCI. They don't judge you based on the outcome of just one interview, which is the case with many other companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Goldman, etc.
In short, they interviewed to select me, and not reject me.

Sadly, I did not join OCI since I had a competing offer from Amazon.
Also, OCI is new and has a different work culture than the rest of Oracle. It has also started to compete with big companies in terms of pay. So, if you get an offer from OCI, please don't hesitate to join.

Please let me know if you need more info. Posts like this have inspired me a lot. I bet it will be the same for you.
