I gave my final round of interview(30 mins) on March 16 2021(Wednesday). I got an email today about the result. It says that they can't extend an offer now due to huge volume of applications, but had asked me to fill out an Opt-In survey if I agree to be contacted if any new openings come up later in the recruiting season.

My application status haven't changed in University portal, it still says "Under Review". I had seen few posts about them being waitlisted for specific locations. But, I had not been informed of anything as such. Does this mean my application is waitlisted or it is something different?

Looking for inputs from applicants in similar stage.
