Hello, I am writing here to see what other SWE and people in tech feel is a decent wage for New York City.

A quick little background of myself. I graduated in May 2020 with a degree in computer engineering, and started my first job of SWE in August, the company that I work for pays me 69K and I am located in North Carolina, so for the location and wage, I am happy with it considering i used to only make 20K a year before.

Now recently I was given an offer of 65K for a entry level Data Engineering postion, that may require me to move to NYC. I know NYC is an expensive city to live in. However I dont know anyone who lives in NYC so I cant really reach out to people to ask how much they make and how they feel about quality of life there. I would like to see how people on here may feel about this?

P.S. The main reason I am considering this is because the work I am currently working on has to deal with front-end work and I don't like front-end work I think its very boring. My goal is transition to a machine learning engineer, and feel like a postion as a data engineer would work out better for me.
