I am looking for a book or series of articles (or even a compilation of such works) where the develomental history of algorithms is discussed and the people behind them. I am not reffering to textbooks, books teaching algortithms such the analysis and design of algorithms like CLRS or various algorithm encylopedias. I am generally looking for historical discussions and stories of the times and how things have progressed. I am looking for something that is like: \n\n**e: The Story of a Number** Eli Maor or **A History of Pi** by Petr Beckmann or \n**The Annotated Turing: A Guided Tour Through Alan Turing\'s Historic Paper on Computability and the Turing Machine** by Charles Petzold.\n\nI have not found something that is written in that kind of style. Has anyone read books they can reccommend that deal with a historical reflection and evolution of algorithms. This is for general reading at liezure.
