I had a virtual interview for a Data Engineer position at Apple and pleasantly surprised at the way it went.
Not much algorithmic or even general coding questions. All the rounds were around Spark, paritioning and data skew. Having been away from Spark last few months, I was completely surprised and stumbled a bit. One of the rounds was coding around Spark aggregrations.
All the interviewers asked questions around Spark settings for number of executors, memory , dynamic allocation etc. I felt like I could have easily got thru if I had known they are so specifically looking for Spark knowledge. It didn't make any sense to me.
Felt like a consultant interview rather than a FAANG interview.
Did anyone experience this?
