Gender in problem descriptions
153

This may seem like a small problem, but it's something that's endemic in our industry and I feel demands a little more attention.

There are a lot of questions on Leetcode that contain descriptions with people in them, very often these problems will use male-only pronouns. The most recent example I've seen would be this one: Employee Importance. To me it feels quite jarring to consistently be reading descriptions like this where the people in the problem are exclusively male. I could find more examples but I think if you've been using this platform you would be familiar with what I'm talking about.

I think this is something very important to consider, especially with regard to the significant gender gap in software. This is a platform people use to kickstart or further their careers in the industry, I'm sure it would foster a more inclusive community to consider a policy geared toward using gender neutral/inclusive pronouns (they/them, him/her).
