How do virtual on-sites compare to regular on-sites?

I'm curious to hear about anyones experience with virtual on-sites and how they compare to regular on-sites. I'm not sure if I should be interviewing right now, since I don't want to waste my oppurtunities with certain companies, and I think having a virtual on-site may be more challenging than an in person one.

For those who have had a virtual on-site, have you found that it is harder to solve interview questions and effectively communicate with the interviewer? For interviewers, are you being more lenient with the questions you ask and how you score your interviewee?
