Hi All,

I have been working in the software for about 6 years now. I used to work as software test developer for 4 years, where I also worked on lot python scripting for building automation tools. I recently moved to development role, but the application I work is used by a small set of users and the application runs on a local server. It is also quite established. I work mostly on adding new features and improving the capabilities.

Since it is a small and fast paced team we don't do much of design and we directly indulge into development head first. I feel I am lacking the confidence in system design. I would like to get a perspective from this forum on how to gain system design experience if I lack opportunites at work.

I have prepared a lot for system design interviews and can pretty much answer any question from *** the system design interview or even something similar, but that still does not provide me with the most crucial thing - the experience and confidence.
