Hello!
I've over 12 years experience and i was an interviewer for several years. I'm planning to move to tier 1 companies and have been preparing algos for about 6 months. I thought i'm completetly prepared for interviews with 6 months prep and today i had an interview ( about 7th/8th since i started looking for job). I did half the interview properly and I've heard the second question for the first time and had no idea on how to even begin aproaching the problem. Took a while to understand the problem, by the time i understood, i have already spent 10-15 minutes wrapping my head around the problem and i had only 15 minutes left. I felt nervous becuase i don't have a solution yet, even the brute force solution. I fumbled a lot trying to clear my head and with tons of hints from the interviewer i was able to do half baked solution which was missing a lot of important things. At the end of the interview i did even not had a proper understanding on how to approch the problem at all.
Does his happen to you guys? I feel like i've hit rock bottom because with 6 months of prep, doing 190 problems LC(many more before i knew LC) this was a horrible result for a simple medium problem. Is there a success story out of these miseries? My goal is to keep doing these interviews, but, try to learn. But, it has been tough journey so far for me and my family.
Hopefully there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
