Hello,
I am currently a PhD student at a university in the US. I want to quit my current PhD, if I am able to get an offer. I have applied to multiple FAANG companies and did not hear back from them. I am suspecting that it is because I mentioned that I am currently enrolled in a PhD program. I was looking for suggestions or ideas how to write my current situation in my resume, that I want to quit my PhD. So far as it seems, I have two options:
Do not mention current PhD at all in my resume, which can give the impression that I have been unemployed for the past 10 months, before which I was a software engineer. I am worried that it might give a red flag to the recruiter that I have been unemployed for 10 months.
Mention current PhD in my resume, which can give the recruiter the impression that I have still 3-4 years to graduate (I don't have a Master's). Then I might not get a call for interview.
Basically, it was a bad decision from me to join PhD, and I want to get out before it is too late.
Any ideas is much appreciated. Thank you.
