I never thought I'd write about any of my experiences here, but it was by far the worst of the places I've interviewed (out of ~20 interviews I've been through). I signed the NDA, so I won't talk about the specific question, but it was about some probability, which is nothing like what the recruiter set my expectation for (recruiter said "leetcode-style", and I didn't apply for a MLE position btw).

To start off the discussion, I talked about my reason for applying to the position, and my story, and he started sneering, saying "really? Is that really the reason?", so at this point I'm confused about what answer he wants from me. This was the first red flag for me to become de-motivated about this role, because I don't see myself wanting to work with someone as sarcastic and condescending people who may be really smart, but really would make a terrible people to work together with.

Anyway, okay so the problem is quite challenging (to me), so I get into a mental block. The entire time during the interview, the interviewer (visible via video) is vigorously shaking his head, constantly saying 'no, no, no', and supposedly "trying" to give me "hints", but keep on prematurely interrupting, disrupting my chain of thought. I eventually couldn't arrive at the answer, and at this point, I'm regretting having my video on, because I'm so flustered (with frustration, and offended by his attitude)

I'm super disappointed that Snap is not as "kind" (slogan: "kind, smart and creative") as they'd like to advertise themselves to be - I now think that they are group of smart jerks who want to think better of themselves by bashing on interviewees.

I'm sure not everyone's like that, but at least check your employees before putting out a slogan like that, because I sure won't be applying to Snap ever again.

I sure hope your experience is better, but for those who have any interviews lined up with them, keep your fingers crossed that you don't come across the interviewer like mine...
