Can I send my written offer to a different company to negotiate?

Hi all,

I have offers from Google and Facebook.

In both compensation and benefits, Facebook's offer is much much better. This is because my Google offer is unprecedentedly low for the position. I will share the back story in other Interview Experience / Compensation posts, and link them here.

Google HR said they would need a written competing offer to increase the numbers. Despite Facebook gave me a written draft, their email says "offer details are confidential".

I really appreciate Facebook's transparency in giving me the full offer details, and offering great numbers in the first place. I don't really want to annoy them.

My plan is to mention Google that I have a competing offer from Facebook but I cannot share the details as they are confidential. Then, give them my expectation, tell that the expectation is based on the competing offers, and that I cannot accept the offer for less.

Here are my questions:

  1. Is it okay if I send Facebook's written offer to Google (both legally and morally)?
  2. Would Google ever try to contact Facebook to verify the offer?
  3. What would you do in my situation?

Thanks!
