Why these tests for experienced people?

I understand experience may not mean much in case of everyone. But for any one even reasonably accomplished with 10+ years of experience, what is it that these companies like to evaluate by asking these LeetCode type of questions? What is the real advantage? With a busy job and life if one cannot prepare tons of these, but doing just great in current role, these tests really are not a good measure. I understand for inexperienced people there is no way but to evaluate programming skills, but for experienced people? Also, in a mid-career, I can't just sit and keep an learning the same sorting/linked list / array questions like a stupid .. life has a lot more to offer and many more new problems keep coming up.. but to pass these interviews you have to spend a ton of practicing all text book questions.. they neither change the way these folks code at work nor determine their future quality of work... (I am only talking about accomplished people here)... This culture, if you ask me, is going too far. Similar to how companies went too far with brain teasers 10 years ago..
