Hi all,

I am 2020 CS graduate, working as SDE-1 in a product based startup. I have a total experience of 1.2 yrs. I see few my collegemates & linkedin connections who have graduated along side with me getting promoted to SDE-2 within a year. Generally SDE-2 is given to a person having total experience of 2-3 yrs, but I see them and wonder what are they doing differently to get a promotion so early in career.

I am curious to know whether with these promotions are they being usually low balled for SDE-2 salary range or is the compensation on par with the market value. There should be a catch intead orgs don't tend to promote people so quickly. I am happy if they are genuinely as talented as an SDE-2 & deserved a promotion, but that is generally a rare case.

Also I would like to know are there any companies looking out for SDE-2 role without considering total years of experience or with 1 year of experience. Thanks in Advance.
