Google invited me to a (virtual) onsite interview without a technical phone screen.

Things Google probably dislikes about me:

• No internal referral.
• Relatively low GPA. (I was hoping to become a math professor, but people with 3.0 undergrad GPAs do not get tenure track positions at research oriented universities)
• No papers in a publication heavy speciality.
• Only an undergraduate degree in a subfield dominated by PhDs.
• Little experience with web-scale system design.
• The top search result for my real name is a NLRB complaint I filed against my current employer ( Google has had some issues with the NLRB )
• I failed a Google phone screen in 2014.

Things Google probably likes about me.

• Undergrad in math from top 5 school.
• 8 patents. (About half are "vanity patents" with little economic value.)
• Already living in Silicon Valley.
• 10 years of experience; Currently at the senior staff engineer level at a second tier company.
• American citizen.
• Non-trivial contributions to major open source codebases.
• Female.

Is it common for Google to invite people directly onsite, even if they failed a technical phone screen several years ago?
