I would request for color rating or name rating along with the present rating system in contests, this will help in number of ways:

1. motivation to jump from one band to other band, rankings can be subjective sometimes
2. opportunity to flex color rating or name rating on resume/cv/portfolio along with absolute rating
3. this may also increase the popularity and active people on leetcode, the more the better for the community
4. feeling competitive by belonging to a particular color or name and better able to judge yourself and work on it to jump to higher

It need not be exactly stars or color or name along with rating, leetcode could even introduce something more fresh but along similar lines
