Hi everyone,
My background
Graduated last year from one of the old IITs, Non-CS background.
Presently working in a Big 4 (CTC = 9+3 = 12LPA).
Offers
I got offers from Paytm (15LPA fixed only). Negotiated from (13+1LPA) but I did not had any offers at that time. Recruiter said the higher management told this is the last amount they offer and otherwise drop the candidate. So accepted it. This is for Bangalore location.
Got another offer from Dotkonnekt, they asked me about the compensation, said your market value is 15LPA based on the offer. I said I expect 18-20LPA. They didn't get back.
Got another offer from a relatively new startup. I liked the people. Talked with the CEO for 90 minutes where we both shared our experiences (he's also from another old IIT), I came up with several ideas about their which can be implemented. I was just amazed by their product. They gave me an offer of 16LPA base which is guaranteed to become 18LPA fixed (this will be mentioned in the offer letter) after 3 or 6 months depending on the performance. It'll be a permanent remote job. I particularly liked their product and the tech stack they are using also fits. They'll also offer me ESOPs (couldn't give me the numbers as their company is in the process of valuation by another firm) but said I'll definitely get ESOPs.
I am new to all of this, and experience with Paytm demotivated me a bit. I believe in my coding skills and the techstack I have. I getting sidelined by hearing about non-cs background and that my present job is not of a software developer.
Am I being too ambitious here? I expected a CTC of 25LPA with a base in 20-25 LPA range (since every other person is getting) and I sincerely believe I have the skillset for the same. I studied about design patterns, proficient in coding (covered almost every topic in CP too, comfortable with graphs, DP and datastructure design), have studied OS, DBMS and have good projects as well.
