Hi

I have a total of 17 years of experience (all in US) with 13 years in production support (batch monitoring, ksh scripts , debugging sql queries , user issue resolution etc). I have switched to a software engineering role and been in that role for the past 4 years .I currently work in Python and JavaScript and do have some background in Java.I want to continue with software engineering and dont want to get into prod support again.I have the below questions

  1. I need some advice on what roles and companies I should be targetting .
  2. How do I convert my prod support exp. into something meaningful for software engg.Would companies see this as a negative on my resume as I feel that for software engg roles I will be competing with people with 5 years of exp
  3. For interview questions as a software engg should I expect DS + Algo questions + System design or just system design

YOE: 17 (13 years Prod Support + 4 years Software Engg currently All in US)

All advice appreciated
