I am currently working at a descent product based company as a big data engineer, where my day-to-day work involves writing hive queries, developing data pipelines using apache spark, etc - not a lot of coding overall. I have spent >3 years at this role.

Now, I want to move to FAANG - but I hardly see any openings with this kind of profile is these companies, all they want is either a software engineer or a data scientist/machine learning engineer.
So, although as per my industry experience, I should be aiming for SDE2/L4 positions, but I am little worried that my lack of experience in SE/DS role might cause problem.

So, shall I aim for SDE1/L3 roles or do I still stand a chance for SDE2/L4?
Any other suggestion(s) are welcome.
