Would a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) position at a reputable firm lead to a Software Engineer role (probably at another firm)? I am earning my Computer Science Masters degree at a strong school, but have found the market to be super competitive and need to quickly get a job before graduation. I switched careers from business, so I don't have great technology/coding experience.

What do SREs do? Do they code?
