Permanent Remote Roles VS. Job Security

I'm currently umemployed and am trying to get back on my feet, but I really want to find a company I can feel secure in and call home for the long-run. It's for this reason that I've steered clear of new roles marketed as permanent remote. Concerns:

  1. By nature, anyone in the state/country/world can fill this position, so it's much easier to be swapped out with a new hire, especially if it's a cheaper new hire.
  2. Post-pandemic, some companies will be returning to the office (at least partially). That remote employee that isn't co-located with the rest of team could seem much less desirable and be considered for replacement by local talent.

What are your thoughts? Am I overly concerned?
