Need advice on avoiding obvious mistakes when preparing for FAANG

I am currently working in a good product based company in india. I have 4 yrs of experience.I was a college hire and in the same company since then(though in various good teams). I tried to change before also but my career growth was very steep in the current company and was going through some personal issues, so never changed my company. But now, I want to change my company and trying to move out of india. My would be husband is abroad based.I have not given any interview in last 2 yrs, so I am feeling pretty nervous. I have 3 - 5 months to prepare. So I want to be fullproof in my approach without doing the obvious mistakes which I later realise and regret since I have very less time.I have few questions that I am posting below, apart from that please give your valuable advice from your expereinces on how I should prepare and what all mistakes I should avoid

  1. I see here people had spent years on leetcode before getting an offer, I only have 3 - 5 months of time to prepare and I am starting from scratch, so is it a reasonable assumption that with 3 - 5 months of practice and preparation I can land an offer in FAANG or I should get more realistic ?

  2. what are the mistakes a rookie can do that he never realises then and later regrets ?

  3. How do I overcome my intertia of giving interviews, right now I can say I have average understanding of system design and can solve reasonable number of problems in leetcode but when I think about doing it in the interview I get coldfeet, and feel immense pressure and I feel even if I know the answer I wont be able to do it in the interview within the given time, also solving a leetcode medium problem and writing the code for it in 15 mins seems too overwhelming to me. It takes me just 15 to 30 mins to solve an unknown problem itself, then converting it to code would take another 15 to 20 minutes. would these improve with time and practice ? maybe for a known problem it would, but for an unknown problem would my turn around time improve ?

Many of my questions my might sound obvious or trivial, but since people here have a lot of experience I want to hear from the horse's mouth how does it evolve.
