I like coding in python and I want to persue my career in development only. But I got campus select in one the mass recruiter companies and they after training put people randomnly into technologies. I am working as a database administrator since last 1.5 years having total experience of 2years in the company ( training + bench period).

I apply to other places through linkedin for the role of software engineer but never get a response. Once I got response from one company and they took online tests in two rounds which I cleared and then during interview I was asked to settle for the same salary which I am getting in my current company as they are providing me platform to change my track.

Now after applying to various jobs offer online and not getting a response I am starting the rethink my decission to change my work stream as I cant continue working for such low payscale.

Can someone give me some tips on what I do ? Yes I want to work in programming / development related field and I did projects during my college in technologies including html,css,php,java,android,python. My current CTC is near around 4.5 LPA so I desperately need a switch. I am happy with anything more than 7LPA at this moment

Or should I drop the idea of changing my track and continue to work as database adminstrator unwillingly. I can get job here quite easily as I have working experience here. But since its all support work which sometimes includes monitoring as well. So I dont like that.
