Hi Guys,\n\nI am currently working as a Devops engineer at a FAANG company in India for the past one and half year. I recently got a job offer from Dunzo for an SDE. I belong to a tier 1 college and was recruited to FAANG from campus. However, I no longer want to work in a SRE/Devops role and I am looking to switch to a pure SDE role. Sadly, It turns out that its pretty difficult to switch to SDE even for entry level roles, as the interviewers are a bit skeptical about our coding skills since we come from a Devops/SRE background. I never knew that it would be this difficult for me to find jobs in SDE even though I I work in a FAANG . I was also about to go for my MS this year to US (good college) , but my admission got deferred due to CoviD, so I\'ll be going next year . I am having difficulty deciding in whether to switch jobs or not. Also, I want to switch to an SDE role as soon as possible.\n* Should I wait for another year here at my current org?\n* Is it good to switch to a startup like Dunzo from a FAANG company, and that too for only a year?\n* Will the Devops role prove harmful for me in the long run?\n* Will I have diffculty in finding SDE roles in US after I complete my MS? \n\nIt would be great if someone with some experience in this background can help me out of my dilemma
